USB AutoRun Creator is a Windows utility to create auto-start programs for USB flash drives.

When you insert a USB flash drive into a USB port on your laptop, the operating system will recognize the drive but then nothing happens. If you have executables on said drive, you will need to activate them directly. Have you ever had a program on a USB stick that you just wished would activate itself the moment you inserted the drive into a USB port?

Well, USB AutoRun Creator is a program that does just that. The user interface is fairly basic but very easy to use. Use the Select button to find an executable somewhere on your PC or wherever that you want to copy to an USB drive as an autorun program. Then, use the Browse button to select the USB drive or a subfolder of that drive where the executable will be copied.

Note that creating an autorun executable will not overwrite the drive in its entirety, and yes, you can have any number of autorun programs written to drive. If you have a dozen, then all dozen will load when the USB drive is inserted into the port. The order will be determined by Windows iterating through the file structure, so if you do want to dictate a particular load order, then you will need to manipulate the file structure or file names in order to achieve that.

USB AutoRun creator also lets you set an icon for the program. You can set a label for the USB drive as well, but be mindful that if you do that, it will erase all content on the drive first. As mentioned, the application is self-explanatory, but it does have integrated help in case you run into a problem. If any errors occurred while writing to the USB, you can click on the Handle Errors button to receive an in-depth explanation of what went wrong.

The downside potentially to USB AutoRun Creator is that the program itself is required in order for this functionality to work. In other words, if you insert a flash drive that has been set up by USB AutoRun Creator into a desktop or laptop that does not have the program installed, nothing will happen. This hampers the usability of this utility to no small degree, but in a support or other computing scenario where this restriction is not an issue, USB AutoRun Creator is an excellent program that works well.
